We are looking for someone with a burning interest in animals in marine and freshwater environments. You are meticulous and can juggle many tasks at once. You have the ability to contribute to and inspire a team. You are flexible and can quickly find solutions in unexpected situations. You have a positive view of people and retain a childlike spirit. You want to work in a cheerful team with great collaboration and lots of drive. Naturally, you also want to help create conditions for all our guests to have a fantastic experience. We place great importance on your personal qualities.
The Position
You will be part of the Living Learning Environments department and the team that works with our aquatic sections, which are responsible for the animals in the aquariums, both in the exhibitions and in the back areas. The Living Learning Environments department consists of animal keepers, zoologists, veterinary technicians, marine biologists, and divers. The position will collaborate with the entire department, but most closely with those working with the aquatic sections.
As a summer substitute diver, you will be responsible, in collaboration with other departments, for ensuring that Universeum's visitors have a positive experience and inspiration from our aquarium environments.
Your main tasks will include:
Conducting dives in accordance with safety standards and performing tasks as required.
Responsible for daily operations and supervision according to Universeum's routines and policies for animal care and water purification within the aquarium sections.
Participate in public presentations and training sessions for visitors, where such need arises.
Guiding smaller and larger groups
Water purification and daily maintenance of our water systems including sampling
Qualifications
We are looking for someone with the following qualifications and experiences:
You have a professional diving certificate at least S30 and experience in recreational diving.
It is an advantage if you have experience in maintaining saltwater aquariums
It is an advantage if you have experience working with animals
Driver's license B
You have a high stress tolerance and the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously in an intense and sometimes physically demanding environment, which requires both flexibility and adaptability
We also prefer that you have experience and knowledge in:
HVAC and pumps
water chemistry
fish health and nutrition

Employment Conditions
Employment type: Fixed-term agreement
Scope: 100% during defined summer period, weekend work may occur.
Start date: By agreement. There is an opportunity to work extra before the summer.
